Today’s forecast calls for savings!30 degrees or colder: Brrrr! Before the thermostat drops another degree, consider adding an additional layer of insulation to your home. The money you save will make you feel warm all over.
30-40 degrees: Getting chilly, isn’t it? If you wear a sweater and socks around the house, you’ll be able to lower your thermostat a degree or two and save money.
40-60 degrees: Today is on the cool side. Shutting the doors to rooms in your house that aren’t in frequent use will help control the flow of air, and that will save you money!
60-70 degrees: Ahhh, it’s the perfect temperature for saving money! On cooler days and nights, why not turn off the AC and open up the windows to take advantage of natural ventilation?
70-80 degrees: The mercury is rising! Ever considered using a ceiling fan as opposed to the air conditioner in occupied rooms? It makes saving money a breeze.
85+ degrees: It’s gonna be a scorcher! If you’re lucky enough to have a swimming pool, be sure to turn the filter off overnight or when the pool isn’t in use and you’ll enjoy some extra cool savings.
Energy Savings Time/It’s the perfect time to:6am-8am: Minimize water usage when you’re shaving or brushing your teeth in the morning and you’ll get a bigger bang for your energy buck.
8am-12pm: Heading to work? If it’s summertime, don’t forget to close the blinds and shades before you leave to help keep your house cool. When it’s chilly out, keep the blinds open and allow the heat producing sunlight to keep things toasty inside your house.
12pm-3pm: Turn off the lights and unplug all electronics when you’re away from the house and watch the savings add up.
4pm-7pm: Time for dinner! If you’re hungry for savings, consider using your microwave instead of your stovetop, and avoid opening the oven door too often to check on your dinner.
7pm-9pm: Minimize water usage when you’re shaving or brushing your teeth before bed and you’ll get a bigger bang for your energy buck.
9pm-12am: Time to run your dishwasher! Running appliances during non-peak hours helps control demand on your local power grid. That helps you save money!
12am-6am: Did you know that, in cool weather, setting your thermostat 10 degrees lower when you’re asleep can save you up to $100 per year? Sweet dreams indeed!
